Square neck tank tops are popping up everywhere this summer, and for good reason: They are elegant, versatile, and flattering on nearly every body type.
Pros of Square Necklines
If you want to highlight your collarbones or make your neck appear longer, square neck tank tops—and really, all square necklines—are an excellent choice. And for those of us who are petite, square necklines can make the whole upper body appear elongated, too. Win-win!
I also love square neck tank tops because they can be dressed up or down, and can be worn throughout the year when used as a layering piece. While I love wearing lots of different necklines under blazers or cardigans for work, square necklines are my favorite. I love the contrast it creates with the more vertical lines of a blazer or jacket. Plus, square necklines leave lots of room to add your favorite jewelry!
Styling Square Neck Tank Tops

Casual Looks
I styled this Express square neck tank with jeans in a casual outfit here for a day out and added a big sun hat as an accessory. To elevate the look a bit, I wore these Naturalizer heels, but you can always swap in white sneakers for a chic casual vibe. You could also wear this square neck tank top with a white or jean skirt, instead of pants.
Date Night
Try pairing the tank with paperbag wide-leg pants and strappy heels (see these on me here). The flowing lines of the pants will contrast beautifully with the square neckline! If you want a more form-fitting silhouette, a pencil skirt would look lovely. Or you could try an asymmetrical skirt paired with the square neckline.
The Office
I love square neck tank tops under blazers, and this Express tank works beautifully for this style. I usually pair it with black skinny pants and a white or colored blazer for a chic but polished work look. Just add heels and a string of pearls, and you’re ready for the office!
Review of Express Square Neck Tank Top

When I was searching for a new tank to add to my wardrobe, I wanted one with thick material, wide straps, and that was long enough to tuck into pants or a skirt. This Express square neck tank top checked all the boxes, and it’s currently on sale for $14.95!
The tank comes in black, white, and rose colors. I purchased the black in XS. The material is thick, so there are no unwanted bra lines. While it is form-fitting, the material is not clingy. It is 60% rayon, 35% nylon, and 5% spandex.
The top itself it 19” long. For me, that is just long enough to tuck into medium-rise and high-waisted pants. I found that it stays tucked in really well, even at this shorter length. The square neck in both the front and the back is also a lovely detail. I wish the straps were slightly shorter, as they don’t lie flush to my skin when I move, and it makes the neckline a bit low on me. But I love that the thick straps allow me to wear a bra without it showing.
I’ve washed it multiple times in a laundry bag, and it has not shrunk or lost its color. I’ve used both the delicate and hand wash cycle on my washer to avoid unnecessary stress on the tank, and both worked well. The top gets a bit wrinkly in the washer, so I’d suggest taking it out of the wash right when it finishes, but the wrinkles smooth out quickly once it’s air drying.
Overall, I am very pleased with this square neck tank top and can’t wait to style it for multiple occasions. Will you be adding a square neckline to your wardrobe?
